On 11th of October 2024, the European Commission sent the voluntary certification schemes, including SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES Verification Scheme, the so-called ‘Assessment Protocol Template’. This document forms the basis for applying for recognition under RED III.
SURE is currently working intensively on adapting the SURE-EU scheme principles to the new requirements of RED III. The focus is on the criteria for forest and agricultural biomass, the Union database and GHG calculation.
We will submit the adapted SURE-EU scheme principles for recognition by November 04th, 2024, as specified by the EU Commission. Experience shows that the recognition procedure will take some time.
We will keep you informed about the status of the recognition procedure and the specific effects on the SURE-EU scheme.
