N-BiG Launches Intensive Biomass Training for Agribank Staff

N-BiG facilitated a two day intensive training to equip Agribank staff with the knowledge and skills needed to better understand the biomass sector and effectively evaluate and issue loans for biomass projects, especially for SMEs and the broader business community. The training provides both theoretical and practical insights into Bush Control and Biomass Utilisation, focusing on the environmental, social, and economic aspects of the sector. It emphasizes sustainable practices and Namibia’s permitting system for the responsible management of bush encroachment, ensuring participants grasp the complexities of the industry.

A key element of the training includes hands-on demonstrations in biomass quantification and tree species identification, which took place today at the Namibia Botanical Institute. These practical sessions will help participants evaluate biomass potential and viability for securing contracts and off-taker agreements. Additionally, they will learn to differentiate between encroacher and protected species to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. By the end of the program, Agribank staff will have gained valuable insights into the role of biomass in environmental management and its economic potential for promoting sustainable agriculture.
