N-BiG, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Göttingen (UniGoe), OGF GmbH, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), and a drone pilot from Fly Lab Namibia, embarked on an exciting new project focused on Digital Biomass Quantification.
Using cutting-edge laser scanning technology—both aerial (drones) and ground-based—this project aims to explore more efficient and accurate methods for assessing bush biomass. It presents a promising alternative to the traditional Biomass Quantification Tool (BQT) currently used across the country.
– The team is actively collecting data, with analysis to follow soon. If successful, this innovation could revolutionize how bush biomass is measured in Namibia!
Stay tuned for updates and the official project outcomes. Exciting times ahead for sustainable biomass management!
