Catalytic Biomass Fund

Players in the biomass industry are facing limited capital for biomass ventures. In response, N-BiG to establish a targeted risk facility called “Catalytic Biomass Fund”. The fund will address two distinct gaps in the industry. Venture capital funding: Small, start-up players in the industry struggle to secure early-stage funding and sometimes do not have enough capital or collateral to secure bank funding in the form of loans. Established players experience challenges for sourcing equity or debt funding for expansion, due to a lack of understanding of their products and value chains by the Namibian financial sector. The fund will demonstrate the viability of investments in the biomass industry through credible technical assistance and support enterprises in raising capital.
